01 The standard we're launching on
Minimum and average usable width — plus length range — stated for every lot, not implied by a photo.
A tested qualifying-wrap range on every bag, because a pound doesn't tell you how many tamales it wraps.
Every lot sampled and checked for mold, insect damage, dirt, and dampness before it's released for sale.
If a sealed bag arrives damp, musty, or under its stated minimum, the lot code gets it replaced or refunded.
Full written specifications publish with our first graded lots this fall.

04 Why the premium is real
Every bag of husks on the shelf says premium. Almost none of them tell you what that means. Shoppers keep asking the same five questions — so we're building the brand that answers them on the bag, before the sale.
05 From dry to pliable
Shake out the silk and field dust, and give each husk a quick rinse under warm water.
Submerge in hot water until fully pliable. Every lot's tested soak time is printed on the bag — no guessing between ten minutes and two hours.
Pat dry and spread the masa on the smooth side. Fold, tie with a husk strip if you like, and steam.

08 Before you ask
No — the husk is a wrapper, not an ingredient. It shapes the tamal, protects it in the steamer, and comes off before the first bite. For wrapping and cooking. Remove before eating.
Plan on roughly one wide husk per tamale, plus a margin for ties, patches, and practice wraps. The calculator does the math for your batch, and every lot we sell will publish a tested qualifying-wrap range so you're not guessing from net weight.
A husk wide enough and intact enough to wrap a standard tamale on its own — no patching, no doubling. Narrow strips and torn pieces are useful as ties and steamer liners, but they don't count toward the number on the bag.
Every lot will ship with its origin and exact treatment disclosure published on the bag and the product page — that's the point of the brand. The first supplier files are being completed now, and nothing goes on sale before its disclosure is done.
Keep them sealed in a cool, dry place. Don't use husks that arrive or become damp, musty, visibly moldy, or insect-damaged — that's also exactly what our guarantee covers.
Consumer launch is planned for Fall 2026, ahead of the holiday tamalada season, with Holiday Reserve windows and wholesale sampling opening first. The launch list hears every date before anyone else.
